The second annual meeting of the Central Committee of the Conference of European Churches (CEC), was held from the 23-25 November 2017, in Brussels. The reports of CEC’ s President Anglican Bishop Mr. C. Hill, of General Secretary Fr. Heikki Huttunen and General Secretary of Churches’ s Conference Mrs. D. Peschke were presented during the meeting. Also the financial report of CEC’s treasurer was approved and the budget of 2018. In addition, was approved an agreement for even intensive cooperation between CEC and the Churches Commission for Migrants in Europe for the period 2017-2024. Furthermore, the executive staff presented the projects that have been completed or are ongoing or will be implemented in the next year.
The members discussed in detail the preparation of the upcoming General Assembly of the organization that will take place in Novi Sad of Serbia during June 2018. The document of CEC: «Open Letter for the future of Europe» was presented for the members of South Europe, at a conference which was held in Volos in October. Similar presentation will be held for the members of Central and East Europe in Prague in December. Also the Central Committee approved the application of the Episcopal Church of Scotland to become the 116th member of CEC.
Finally, the Central Committee approved the establishment of Peace Task Force in order to strengthen the work of the CEC for peace. The Peace Task Force support will help the Churches-members to the fight to prevent conflicts and to the efforts of mediation.
