On Friday, the 25 May 2012 a meeting was organized of the Commission of the Representatives of the Orthodox Churches in European Union at the Office of the Representation of the Patriarchate of Romania at the European Union.
They participated, His Grace Bishop Porfyrios of Neapolis (Church of Cyprus), Archimandrite Emilianos Voyiannou (Ecumenical Patriarchate) the Very Right Reverend f. Antony Ilyn (Patriarchate of Russia), f. Sorin Selaru and f. Patricio Vlaicu (Patriarchate of Romania) and Archimandrite Ignatios Sotiriades and Mr. Constandinos Zorbas (Church of Greece).
It was discussed in detail the proposal of the above mentioned committee to the Bureau of European Policy of the European Council, for the organisation of a conference under the theme of promoting solidarity during the period of the economic crises as well as the contribution of Orthodox Churches the social European policy. A possible date for carrying out this conference is during mid October 2012. It is the first time that a conference will be organised by the Orthodox Churches sited in Brussels in cooperation with the Bureau of European Policy of the European Council.
